Starburst’s New Berries n’ Créme: The Power of Viral Advertising
As an advertising art director, I have to keep up with all of the work out at the moment. And if you’ve seen the recent change in TV spots for Starburst and Skittles… know that this is a huge change for a tough client. So does this commercial… make you laugh or annoy the crap out of you? Videos of people impersonating this Little Blue Boy character are all over YouTube. I was first annoyed when I watched this TV spot, but the more and more I think about it, the funnier it is.

I think the commerical is hilarious. Then again, I like all things random and weird. I feel like it’s simliar to the BK King, which was a wildly successful campaign.

I laughed my ass off when I first saw that commercial on TV. My friend then looks at me and says “I don’t get it.”
Apparently he enjoys British humor like the original “The Office” and I just like humorous Brits.

All of those made me laugh at least somewhat. I probably like Blue Boy, Ernie and Art Class the most at the moment.

it’s kind of funny (in that freakish WTF way) but it doesn’t really drive me to buy the product. Perhaps teenagers will associate with coolness and at least give it a try? (and, oh lordy, put up their own “berries & cream” youtube vids)

I LOOOOOOVE this commercial. It is currently Brian’s favorite as well – he goes around the house singing the song (yes, I’m sure you can picture that). If you can figure out how to get people to make YouTube videos impersonating your commercial, you’ve done something right.
And, hey, everybody remembers the key attributes of the product, right? Berries. and cream. and little lads.
